Businesses closely tied to necessities have shown greater resilience, while those related to durable goods\u2014such as construction\u2014have faced significant pressure. This is the key to both companies. BASF&#8217;s headquarters are in Germany. Headquartered in North America, where natural gas is relatively cheap, Dow&#8217;s cost advantage in energy-intensive products like basic chemicals is immediately apparent.
