Seed’s feed-grade cellulose derivatives provide essential binding, pelleting aid, texture modification, and nutritional fiber functionality in animal feed formulations, enabling production of high-quality feed products with superior pellet quality, improved digestibility, enhanced palatability, and optimized animal nutrition. Our CMC and HEC products deliver reliable performance across diverse feed types from livestock and poultry feeds to aquaculture and specialty pet nutrition.
All products meet specifications for heavy metals, microbial contamination, and chemical purity required for animal feed applications. They are Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) for use in animal nutrition and have established maximum inclusion levels for different animal species.

SEED’s CMC (Carboxymethyl Cellulose) serves as an effective binding agent in pelleted feed formulations, creating cohesive structures that hold feed ingredients together during pelleting, cooling, handling, and storage. CMC’s excellent water-binding capacity hydrates during steam conditioning, forming viscous gels that bind feed particles into durable pellets. CMC provides superior pellet durability index (PDI), reducing fines production during feed manufacturing, transport, and storage. CMC shows excellent compatibility with all feed ingredients including proteins (soybean meal, fish meal, meat meal), grains (corn, wheat, barley), fats and oils, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, probiotics, and medications.
SEED’s HEC (Hydroxyethyl Cellulose) offers specialized functionality in aquaculture feeds and specialized animal nutrition applications requiring enhanced water stability and controlled nutrient release. HEC’s excellent thickening efficiency creates strong binding at relatively low usage levels, contributing minimal non-nutritive bulk while providing maximum pelleting benefit.

Technical Specifications

Our feed-grade CMC is available in industrial/technical quality meeting feed industry specifications, with degrees of substitution from 0.65 to 0.90 and viscosity ranges from 800 to 3,000 mPa·s (1% solution, 25°C). Feed-grade products are manufactured under quality systems ensuring consistent performance, safety, and regulatory compliance.
HEC for feed applications is available in viscosity ranges from 2,500 to 5,000 mPa·s (1% solution, 25°C based on Brookfield LV; 2% solution, 25°C for higher grades).
