Our HPMC (Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose) and MHEC (Methyl Hydroxyethyl Cellulose) deliver exceptional thickening efficiency and rheology control essential for achieving professional coating performance. These cellulose ethers provide pseudoplastic flow behavior, offering high viscosity at rest to prevent sagging and settling while reducing viscosity under application shear for smooth brushing, rolling, or spraying. This shear-thinning characteristic ensures excellent coverage and reduces application effort while maintaining proper film build on vertical surfaces.
The superior water retention properties prevent rapid moisture loss during film formation, ensuring uniform drying and preventing surface defects such as cracking, pinholes, or poor adhesion caused by premature water evaporation.
Our cellulose ethers significantly extend open time, allowing adequate working periods for proper application techniques including blending, texturing, and achieving uniform coverage without lap marks or color variation.

Technical Specifications

Our coating-grade HPMC and MHEC are available in viscosity ranges from 20,000 to 150,000 mPa·s (2% solution, 20°C). Low to medium viscosity grades (20,000-60,000 mPa·s) are ideal for spray-applied latex paints and smooth-finish decorative coatings, offering excellent leveling and minimal orange peel effect. Medium to high viscosity grades (60,000-150,000 mPa·s) suit roller-applied latex paints, textured coatings, and stone-like paints requiring enhanced anti-sagging properties and particle suspension.
