Seed’s cellulose ethers are critical additives in gypsum-based plastering systems, providing the performance characteristics necessary for efficient application and superior finished quality. Our products are specially formulated to address the unique requirements of gypsum plaster systems, which differ significantly from cement-based materials due to gypsum’s faster setting characteristics and different hydration mechanism.
Our cellulose ethers are widely used in interior wall and ceiling plastering for residential and commercial construction, renovation and restoration projects, machine-applied gypsum plaster systems for large-scale projects, hand-applied gypsum plaster for detailed work, decorative plaster finishes, sound-absorbing plaster applications, and thermal insulation plaster systems incorporating lightweight aggregates. They are particularly effective in projects requiring rapid turnaround times, as gypsum plaster systems typically allow faster subsequent work compared to cement-based alternatives. Our products support both thin-coat (5-10mm) and thick-coat (15-30mm) application systems.
Key Performance Benefits
Our products deliver outstanding water retention (≥97%), which is essential in gypsum systems to prevent premature dehydration and ensure proper setting and hardening. The excellent workability allows smooth, effortless application and troweling, reducing applicator fatigue during extended plastering work. The anti-sagging properties enable thicker single-coat applications on walls and ceilings without slumping or sagging, improving productivity and reducing the need for multiple coats.
Our cellulose ethers provide improved adhesion to various substrates including concrete, brick, block, and existing plaster surfaces, reducing the tendency for hollow spots or delamination. The enhanced surface finish quality minimizes the need for additional finishing work, saving time and labor costs. Its superior thermal gelation resistance ensures stable performance even when the material experiences temperature fluctuations during mixing, pumping, and application.
Technical Specifications
Our gypsum plaster grades of HPMC and MHEC are available in viscosity ranges from 20,000 to 100,000 mPa·s (2% solution, 20°C).
