SEED’s HEC serves as the workhorse thickener in numerous shampoo and shower gel formulations, offering exceptional viscosity-building efficiency, outstanding clarity, and excellent stability. HEC creates high viscosity at remarkably low concentrations, enabling cost-effective formulation of products with optimal flow properties.
SEED’s MHEC combines properties of both methylcellulose and hydroxyethyl cellulose, offering unique performance benefits in specialized shampoo and shower gel applications. MHEC provides excellent thickening efficiency similar to HEC while offering enhanced foam stabilization, improved conditioning properties, and unique temperature-responsive characteristics.

Technical Specifications

HPC is used at 0.3-1.2% in shampoos and shower gels, with 0.5-0.8% being most common for standard formulations. HEC is used at 0.4-1.5% depending on desired viscosity and surfactant system composition, with 0.6-1.0% typical for most products. MHEC is used at 0.4-1.2% with similar considerations for viscosity targets and formula complexity. Higher levels may be required in challenging formulations or for specialized gel textures.
