Low-Substituted Hydroxypropyl Cellulose(L-hPC)

Key Specifications: Hydroxypropoxy content: 7.0%–16.0%; Degree of Substitution: 0.1–0.3; Average molecular weight: 80,000–100,000 Daltons.
Appearance: White or off-white loose powder.
Key Properties
- Solubility: Insoluble in water, swells to form colloid upon contact with water; insoluble in ethanol and acetone.
- Excellent compressibility: Easy to compress and form, reducing tablet capping.
- Rapid disintegration: Great volume expansion after water absorption to accelerate tablet disintegration.
- pH stability: Stable at pH 3–11, heat-resistant and enzyme-resistant.
Main Applications
Daily chemicals: Thickener and stabilizer for creams, shampoos and lotions
Pharmaceuticals: Disintegrant, dry binder and filler for tablets; glidant for capsules.
Food industry: Emulsifier, stabilizer, thickener and film-forming agent (used in beverages, pastries, jams).
High-Substituted Hydroxypropyl Cellulose(H-HPC)

Key Specifications: Hydroxypropoxy content: 53.4%–77.5%; Degree of Substitution: 2.2–3.5; Average molecular weight: 40,000–2,500,000 Daltons.
Appearance: White or off-white fine powder.
Key Properties
- Solubility: Soluble in cold water and various organic solvents such as methanol, ethanol and propylene glycol; precipitates at temperatures above 40–45 ℃.
- Thermoplasticity: Suitable for hot pressing and extrusion molding. The formed film is tough, transparent and elastic.
- Thickening and surface activity: Its aqueous solution shows pseudoplasticity and surface activity; liquid crystal state forms at high concentrations.
- Enzyme resistance: Good biological stability and low hygroscopicity.
Main Applications
Industry: Thickener for water-based coatings, binder for ceramic and electronic pastes, biodegradable materials, liquid crystal substrates
Pharmaceuticals: Sustained-release matrix material, film coating agent, stabilizer for suspensions, thickener for eye drops.
Food: Film-forming agent for candies and chewing gums, stabilizer for beverages, edible coating.
Daily chemicals: Thickener, emulsifier and film former for high-end cosmetics, setting agent for hair spray.
